This was taken in Ueno Park in Tokyo during the 2006 Sakura (Cherry Blossom) blooming. This was the first weekend that the Sakura were in full bloom and many people were out and about at the many parks for Hanami. This was special for me because this was my first trip to Japan,
My love of Japan and Japanese culture had until this point been based on photos I've seen and books I read. It was emotional when I finally made it to Tokyo and saw the Sakura and how much appreciation the Japanese people have for their simple beauty. This experience left me with a better understanding of Japanese culture and has further developed my appreciation for it. I will never forget this moment, as it was truly life changing
